Betta uberis "Kubu" is a regional variant of the Betta uberis species, a small, colorful betta fish native to blackwater swamps and forested peat swamps in Central and West Kalimantan, Borneo, Indonesia. It belongs to the coccina group of bettas, known for their compact size and vibrant coloration.

The "Kubu" form is particularly prized by aquarists for its distinctive appearance, often featuring a prominent iridescent green lateral blotch on the body and iridescent green markings on the fin membranes. Males are more colorful and have larger fins than females. They typically reach a size of 3–4 cm (1.2–1.6 inches) and have a lifespan of 2–4 years.

These fish are labyrinth breathers, allowing them to survive in low-oxygen environments by breathing atmospheric air. They thrive in soft, acidic water (pH 5.0–6.0, temperature 22–27°C) with tannin-stained, low-flow conditions, often enhanced with driftwood and Indian almond leaves.

While generally shy, males can be aggressive toward other bettas, especially during breeding when they build bubble nests. They are best kept in species-specific or carefully chosen peaceful community tanks.
