Betta miniopinna is a small, wild betta species belonging to the Betta coccina complex, native to peat swamp forests in Sumatra, Indonesia, including the Jambi province. It is distinguished by its blackish body, bright red pelvic fins with white filamentous tips, and diffuse light green iridescence on its median fins. This species typically inhabits acidic blackwater environments with pH levels between 5.0 and 6.5, and temperatures ranging from 75–82°F (24–28°C).

Although not exclusively found in Jambi, Betta miniopinna has been collected from wild populations in the region and is often marketed as "Betta Miniopinna - Jambi" in the aquarium trade. It is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss from deforestation, peatland drainage, and agricultural expansion.
