Betta obscura is a species of freshwater fish, a type of gourami, native to the Barito basin in Kalimantan Tengah, Indonesia. Known for being a paternal mouthbrooder, this species grows to about 9 cm (3.5 inches) and is characterized by its dark coloration, which gives it its name, meaning "dark". While it can be kept in pairs or groups in tanks with soft, acidic water, its conservation status is listed as Data Deficient by the IUCN.
