Betta bellica sp. "Sadu" is a regional variant of Betta bellica, a large, slender betta species from Sumatra, Indonesia, associated explicitly with the Sadu River or nearby blackwater habitats. It is part of the foerschi complex and differs from typical B. bellica by its distinctive coloration and fin shape.

Males display iridescent green or blue-green flanks with reddish or orange hues on the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins, and often have dark, vertically elongated body markings. They can reach up to 10 cm (4 inches) in length, making them one of the larger wild bettas.

This species inhabits peat swamp forests and slow-moving blackwater streams with soft, acidic water (pH 4.0–7.0, temperature 25–30°C), low light, and abundant leaf litter, driftwood, and vegetation.

Betta bellica sp. Sadu is a bubble-nester and requires similar care to other bellica variants: gentle filtration, a carnivorous diet of live/frozen foods, and a tank of at least 20 gallons for a pair. Males may be aggressive toward conspecifics.
